Prof. Raed Abu Zitar is the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Computing. He has more than 30 years of experience in academia, specifically in teaching, research, and administration. He worked Senior research scientist at Sorbonne University Center of artificial intelligence, Abu Dhabi, before that he was the director of teaching and learning center at Ajman University. He had many positions as Dean, Chair, and Faculty at several Universities in the USA, Jordan, Bahrain, and UAE.
Prof. Abu Zitar (BS 88, MS 90, and PhD 93), was a senior research scientist in the context of Thales Endowed Chair of Excellence, Sorbonne Center of Artificial Intelligence (SCAI), Sorbonne University- Abu Dhabi (SUAD), UAE. Prof. Abu Zitar has joined SCAI-SUAD in Feb-2021. He was working with researchers from Sorbonne University-Paris, and with a team of PhD students and research associates. Prof. Abu Zitar was directing the research at Thales/SCAI in the fields of Intelligent detection and tracking of drones in cooperation with industrial experts from Thales and Aveillant (France and the UK). Before that date, he was the founding coordinator for the Master of Artificial Intelligence Program (one of the first in UAE), Head of the Center of Artificial Intelligence, and Manager for the Teaching and Learning Center at Ajman University, UAE. He has more than 30 years of experience in teaching, research, and administration in the USA, Jordan, and the UAE. He has published more than 150 Journal and conference papers. Edited books and published several chapters in books. He participated in organizing many international conferences, participated in Ministry of Higher Education accreditation committees and peer reviewed many international journal papers and promotion applications. He is an editorial board member in several international journals. He is also a member of several national and international academic committees in the fields of AI and Higher Education. Recently, he was select among the top 2% most cited scientists in the field of Artificial Intelligence and Image processing according to Stanford University list that is based on Scopus Database for the year 2024.
