Short Bio

Mahmoud Z. Mistarihi is an associate professor in the Industrial Engineering Department in the faculty of Engineering at Liwa College (LC), Abu Dhabi. He earned a Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering and Management from Oklahoma State University, USA. Dr. Mistarihi has taught courses in engineering economics, ergonomics, logistics and supply chain engineering, systems simulation and modeling, modeling, and analysis of manufacturing systems, entrepreneurship and innovation, and manufacturing information systems. His research interests include complex systems analysis (modeling, simulation, and optimization), decision-making analysis, applied ergonomics, and safety, engineering quality management, supply chain management, and logistics. Prior to joining LC, Dr. Mistarihi worked at Yarmouk University (Jordan) as director of entrepreneurship and innovation center and assistant dean for quality affairs. Also, he has served as assistant director of Jordanian military factories. Moreover, He served as development director at AMF Development Company, Norman, Oklahoma, USA. Dr. Mistarihi serves as a reviewer for the Arabian journal for Science and engineering, Applied Mathematical Modeling, world journal of Engineering Research and technology, Int. J. of human factors and ergonomics, Int. J. of fuzzy computation and modeling, and Jordan Journal of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering. He is a member of the Jordan Engineering Association (JEA), the institute of industrial engineering (IIE), and the institute for operation research and management sciences (INFORMS).

  • Experience in utilizing various mathematical and Chaos non-linear analysis methods in research projects.
  • Experience in signal processing methods such as Wavelet Analysis, Principal Components Analysis and Hilbert Huang Transform.
  • Employed partial differential equations for sensor placement optimization.
  • Certified Six Sigma Green Belt and good knowledge of Lean tools like 5S, Kanban, Poka-Yoke & Total Productive Maintenance (TPM).
