Prof. Dr. Mohammad D. AL-Tahat, PhD

Dr. Mohammad D. AL-Tahat is a professor in the industrial engineering department at the Engineering faculty, with long experience in teaching and researching in industrial engineering, manufacturing technology, and engineering management. He has acquired extensive experience in the realm of higher education institutions. Throughout his career, he has served diverse roles such as head of the department, assistant dean, and visiting professor with many Universities.

Short Bio

Mohammad D. AL-Tahat is a full international professor of Industrial Engineering (IE), a leader in Industrial engineering, teaching, and researching extensively in industrial engineering, manufacturing technology, and engineering management. AL-Tahat received a B.Sc. degree in production and metallurgy engineering (1990), an M.Sc. degree in IE (1993), and a Ph.D. degree in IE from the University of Bologna- Alma Mater Studiorumin (2003).

As a successful industrial engineer, AL-Tahat has been successfully active in academia and industry for over 30 years. He has taught many IE courses, supervised over 45 master theses and over 70 graduation projects, published over 50 articles in numerous international journals and conferences, and joined editorial board members in over 15 international scientific journals. In addition, he reviewed over 50 research papers submitted to international journals, evaluated many academic promotions in local and regional universities, and he participated in the membership of more than one local and regional accreditation committee and in several university committees. AL-Tahat has worked – at the University of Jordan -School of Engineering as, the Dean’s assistant for student affairs, and head of the department of industrial engineering for seven academic years covering the period of the COVID-19 Pandemic. He has worked as a visiting professor with the University of Science and Technology (JUST) in Jordan, Tabuk University in Saudi Arabia, and Yarmouk University in Jordan. He is currently spending a sabbatical leave granted from the University of Jordan, working with the faculty of engineering at LIWA College, carrying on his academic and research interests. AL-Tahat research focus follows the latest scientific developments and research related to Lean Six Sigma and continuous improvement methodologies and their applications in both industrial and services systems.
